GLA and neuropathy

Neuropathy is an unfortunate and quite common side effect of diabetes. It can cause limb amputations as well as pain and discomfort. It is not to be taken lightly. The thing about it is that neuropathy gradually causes numbness in the extremities, so it is not noticed until it gets to be severe. At this point you might lose a part of your body.

It has been shown in many clinical studies that the fatty oils which contain GLA and EPA can prevent, reverse and heal neuropathy. Besides being cheap it is also good for the heart and other parts in the body.

Dosages

For diabetes the recommended dosage of GLA is 480 mg/ day. When you take GLA it is good to make sure you take more EPA than GLA. This prevents the liver from converting GLA into AA, which, according to medical research, causes inflammation at the cellular level. This inflammation can cause other problems in the body, in all the organs.

The recommended ratio of GLA to EPA is 1:2 or higher if possible.

You can find these supplements in any health food store. Just make sure you get a good ratio of GLA to EPA.

What is Neuropathy

According to Wickipedia "neuropathy" is a disease that affects the nervous system. It is short for "peripheral neuropathy". This means a disease of the peripheral nervous system.

Types of neuropathy

There are four types of neuropathy, but we are only interested in the most common here. That is peripheral polyneuropathy, which affects the arms and legs. This is the type that affects diabetics.

Symptoms

Neuropathy causes several types of symptoms. It often results in numbness, and neuropathic pain or neuralgia.

Neoropathic pain is usually seen as a steady burning pain and/or "pins and needles." and/or electric shock symptoms. The difference is that ordinary pain stimulates only nerve pain, but with neuralgia it also includes non-pain (touch, warm, cool) nerves in the same area. This is unusual for the nervous system to feel

Treatment of neuropathic pain

Neuropathic pain is very difficult to treat. There are various drugs Doctors use, but none of them give full relief.

For this reason it seems better to prevent it in the first place, and heal and reverse it by using the cheap supplement of GLA and EPA.

We at diabetes-treatment-info.com recommend GLA and EPA as a very cheap solution for all diabetics who want to avoid diabetic neuropathy.
